Hudson River Valley Resorts, LLC (“HRVR”) was formed in 2007 to pursue the redevelopment of the former Williams Lake Hotel property. HRVR consists of private investors who share values of social and environmental responsibility. HRVR believes that environmentally sensitive lands (such as the Williams Lake property) can be responsibly (and profitably) developed to the benefit of the community and the Hudson River Valley region. HRVR works with leading ecological professionals that share values of environmental design and long-term sustainability.
Rick Steele, Manager of Hudson River Valley Resorts, LLC
Hudson River Valley Resorts is managed by Rick Steele. Rick is the founder and managing member of Longmeadow Capital, a private equity/ venture capital firm located in Longmeadow, MA. Rick has extensive experience in real estate development, including ongoing construction of a residential community in Aiken, Georgia. (www.theVillageAtWoodside.com).
Rick serves on numerous non-profit Boards and is widely recognized for giving back to the community. Rick is an avid athlete with special interests in lacrosse and skiing. Rick received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife have four children and live in Longmeadow, MA.

In addition to Rick Steele, Hudson River Valley Resorts consists of a small group of socially responsible investors and institutional money managers that came together in 2006 to invest in the Williams Lake Project. These investors each contribute concrete real estate development and marketing experience to the company and share core values of social and environmental responsibility. Tim Allred, Vice President, Hudson River Valley Resorts;
Manager of The Williams Lake Project
The Williams Lake Project is managed by Tim Allred, who has been ‘on-the-ground’ since the inception of the project.
Tim brings 10 years of experience in land planning and development and 15 years of experience in international community development, environmental management and management consulting to the project.
Tim has a Masters in Environmental Management (MEM) from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and an MBA from the School of Management of Yale University, as well as a BA with Honors from Brown University in International Development Studies. He serves on multiple local not-for-profit Boards, is a LEED-accredited professional and is fluent in Spanish. Tim is a world champion Ultimate Frisbee player and enjoys surfing and the outdoors. He lives in Gardiner, NY with his wife Sophia, a theater artist, and their two children, Beckett and Iris.
Brian Cafferty, Community Outreach Coordinator
Born and raised in Rosendale, Brian served as a Town Councilman from 2000–2004. He joined the Williams Lake Project team in 2010 as a consultant and has worked closely with project manager Tim Allred to help manage the extensive permitting process and community relations for the Williams Lake Project. He is chiefly responsible for public outreach and will oversee residential real estate sales and marketing.
Brian is a NYS Licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Westwood Metes & Bounds Realty. He has over 15 years of sales, marketing, advertising and event promotion experience and worked in both TV & radio sales and marketing with Cumulus Broadcasting and RNN TV. Brian currently serves on the board of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Association, and has been on the boards of the Rosendale Street Festival, Rosendale Main Street Association, Rosendale Chamber of Commerce and the Century House Historical Society.
Ed and Peter Donahue, Grounds & Maintenance
Ed Donahue and his son Peter have been managing the Williams Lake property for over 30 years. As employees of the former Williams Lake Hotel, they bring a deep knowledge of the land and its history. They currently maintain the property and handle on-the-ground logistics for events on site.
Among many ongoing projects, the Donahues are responsible for trail improvements that enabled the public rail trail to open through the property in 2013. Ed and Peter live in High Falls, NY.
Jimmy Martin, Communication & Events Coordinator
Jimmy Martin, a Hudson Valley native, grew up in Warwick, NY in Orange County. He attended SUNY New Paltz and graduated in 2012 with a double major in Journalism, with a concentration in Public Relations, and Sociology. While attending, an internship at The Rosendale Theatre sparked his love for Rosendale and has kept him in Ulster County ever since.
Jimmy has been working with the Williams Lake Project since 2013 through Site Optimized, where he was in charge of social media, digital marketing, and website development. In February 2016, he became the Communication & Events Coordinator for the Project. He’s currently responsible for the Community Events held at the lake, as well as communications, administration, and local sourcing. He is also the Assistant Innkeeper at The 1850 House Inn & Tavern on Main Street, Rosendale. In his downtime, Jimmy enjoys hiking, biking, traveling, and seeing live music.

Events that Matter (www.eventsthatmatter.net) is a Rosendale-based event planning business founded by Carrie Wykoff. Carrie plans and coordinates events held at Williams Lake. Events that Matter incorporates sustainability practices by using recycled products and sourcing Fair Trade and local goods and services.
